There are so many greatest characters in the history of anime, and each anime character has impressed the audience in so many different ways, so it is more challenging to point out one character as the best of all.
As individuals, we all have different perspectives and likes, which is why we tend to like any character and our friends like another one; this explains that the best character in anime, for me, might be the worst character for the next person; it all depends on us.
Anime has given the best characters and memories to cherish fans like Naruto, Kakashi, Sasuke, Itachi Uchiha, Rock Lee, Tanjiro, Monkey D Luffy, Anya, Mitsuha, Sanji, Roronoa Zoro, Eren Jaeger, Levi Ackerman, Light Yagami, L Lawliet, etc.
Which is the Best Anime Character So Far?
Here in this article, let’s discuss who I think is the best character so far and why…
Well, it is a tie between two characters from different anime worlds. One is Roronoa Zoro from One Piece, and the other one is Itachi Uchiha from Naruto.
Let’s learn why I think of these two characters as the best ones so far…
Reasons for Roronoa Zoro:
1. Loyalty towards his Captain:
During the Water 7 Arc, we witnessed Ussop abandoning the crew because they could not sail through going merry because going merry took too much damage from the overall journey going merry suffered. When Ussop realized his mistake, then he wanted to join the crew, and Sanji found out this and told everyone about it. Luffy tries to go there and asks Ussop to rejoin the crew but is stopped by Zoro that he can not join until he apologizes for what he did by fighting with Luffy over going merry. That’s when Zoro makes a point, and Sanji also agrees to Zoro’s statement, which shows Zoro’s loyalty towards his captain.
2. Aiming to become the Greatest:
Zoro wants to become the world’s greatest swordsman; to achieve that title, he is willing to train harder and fight anyone with his impressive sword skills. Zoro also developed three swords-style techniques to attack his enemies. In the early stage of the Series, we see Zoro is ready to 1v1 Dracule Mihawk to get the title of the world’s greatest swordsman.
3. Willing to Sacrifice all for his Crew:
During the thriller bark arc, we witnessed his determination to protect his crew at all costs and provide them with his best swords skills. Also, we have seen him kneel against his greatest rival, Dracule Mihawk, to get trained and become more powerful with his swords to protect his crewmates. This shows that Zoro is ready to sacrifice all for his crew.
4. Ready to 1v1 Anyone Anytime:
Zoro is always ready to 1v1 anyone to protect his crewmates and help his captain Luffy become the king of pirates. In the Series we see zoro fighting with Mr. 1 in arabasta, Pika in Dressrossa, Kaidou in Wano country, etc.
Fun Fact: Roronoa Zoro only Bathes Once a Week.
Reasons for Itachi Uchiha:
1. Hiding his True intention to do Good for his Village:
Itachi is one of the cruelest characters introduced in the early stage of the Naruto series who killed his mother, father, lover and whole clan in one night, except his little brother Sasuke. But as the Series progresses, we learn that Itachi’s true intention was always to save the konoha village and he did everything he could to save his village.
2. Taking a Harsh Decision in his Teenage Life:
At the age of 13, when most boys cannot choose what ice cream flavor they should choose, Itachi has been given two choices by society 1. To kill the Village, or 2. To kill his whole clan and he chose to kill his whole clan and suffered pain in his heart. However, the few things he cherished were his relationship with his brother Sasuke and his cute but short love story with Izumi Uchiha.
3. Loving his Brother More than Anything:
Itachi loved his brother more than anything; he never showed his love to Sasuke after his assault on his whole clan because he wanted Sasuke to become stronger than him, and therefore he continued to make Sasuke get angry with him and become stronger and then died with the hand of Sasuke with a smile. The Series portrayed Itachi’s bromance with Sasuke beautifully.
4. Giving Izumi the love she deserves with his Genjutsu:
Itachi has a beautiful but short love story with Izumi Uchiha, and before he goes to assault his whole clan, he performs his genjustsu on Izumi Uchiha to give her the life she wishes and desires where she gets married to Itachi and has two childrens and dies peacefully. It all happens in seconds, and Izumi tells Itachi that that was the perfect life she wanted.”
Fun Fact: “Naruto has More than 1000 Episodes but Itachi is shown only on 24 Episodes.”
So for me, the greatest characters of all time are Roronoa zoro and Itachi uchiha.
