1. Bond With Kuina

One day after a disagreement with his father, Kuina beats Zoro and says that she is not going to become a strong swordsman because she is a woman and there are limits to a woman’s strength which makes a woman weaker.

After giving Kuina a sense of how important it is to have self-respect for a swordsman of his strength, zoro made her take the oath with him to become the world’s greatest swordsman and train harder to become stronger to achieve the goal of becoming the greatest swordsman in the world.

Zoro and Kuina both swear together after a heated argument to become the strongest swordsman in the world and see who achieves that goal faster than the other one so to achieve that, they both go to practice swordsmanship and train harder each day.

3. Losing Kuina:

After swearing the oath with Kuina the next day, zoro finds out that kuina died by falling from the staircase which makes his heart boil and makes him emotional and aggressive toward his goal by witnessing his great friend’s dead body in front of his eyes. After Kuina’s death, Zoro asks for her sword, wado Ichimonji, from his father, and her father agrees to give that sword to Zoro.

After witnessing this unfortunate event, zoro wants to become the world’s greatest swordsman by training hard and fulfilling his promise to Kuina that one of them will become the world’s greatest swordsman.

4. Inner Urge to Save Everyone:

After losing his dearest friend and rival, Kuina Zoro became trapped in the cycle of fear of losing his loved one so that he intentionally or unintentionally developed an inner urge to save everyone from the dangers and to fight all the dangers and save everyone he trains harder to save everyone from the upcoming challenges.

We see Zoro always fighting with Sanji, but he always checks out for Sanji whenever Sanji’s opponent is too strong. During the thriller Bark arc, we see zoro knock s out Sanji so that he can not get hurt by Kuma. Zoro is always prepared to fight against anyone or any challenges that he encounters his way and ready to fight with all his strengths to protect his crewmates so he can not suffer from the loss of another loved one, which is why he is ready to fight anyone and protect his crewmates at any cost.

Zoro even offers his own life to protect his crewmates in the thriller bark arc where we can see everyone is getting knocked out by Kuma and Luffy is heavily injured by the fight with gecko Moria which is why he enables to fight at that moment where Zoro’s greatness saved the day.

The day Luffy saved this badass swordsman’s life was when Zoro made it clear that he has only one goal to become the greatest swordsman in the world; if that’s ok with Luffy, then he is ready to serve Luffy as a loyal member of his pirate crew.
